YOUTH STEP PHASE 2 (COMMUNITY INPUT)

Community Ideas at the Plaza of Nations

On August 15, 2026, YAC team members visited the Plaza of Nations to engage directly with pedestrians and passersby about the future of the site. The team approached members of the public and asked what they would like to see at the Plaza, encouraging them to share their ideas, interests, and experiences.

Participants suggested a variety of possibilities, including community events, markets, public spaces, cultural activities, recreation, and places to gather. This pop-up engagement activity allowed YAC to collect authentic feedback from people who use or pass through the area. The ideas gathered will help inform future events, workshops, and community-focused initiatives at the Plaza of Nations.

Many participants reflected on their memories, past visits, and experiences at the Plaza, using these perspectives to suggest what could be improved or added. These ideas helped YAC better understand the community’s needs, interests, and priorities, ensuring that future events, workshops, and initiatives at the Plaza of Nations are shaped by the people who use and experience the space.

We want to thank everyone who participated and helped bring in ideas. These inputs will then be sent to Northchild Development for their internal review and analysis.

We look forward to rolling out more Youth STEP initiatives where it engages the public to see all the possibilities at the Plaza of Nations!
