PHASE 1 YOUTH STEP

Petit Architect Presentation and Workshop on the Plaza of Nations

On July 29, 2026, YAC members had the opportunity to collaborate with Petit Architect to roll out an interactive workshop with the students at the Petit Architect Kerrisdale Studio.

Students focused on how their creativity can create real changes in our communities, especially within the new development at the Plaza of Nations. We went over what the Plaza of Nations is, the importance of the land, EXPO 86, and what Northchild Development is asking for in the Youth STEP initiative.

During the presentation and workshop, students were asked what they imagined at the new development at the Plaza of Nations. Ideas were shared, and students got to build a mini model of their design.

With a variety of materials sponsored by Northchild Development Group, participants built their mini models and shared why they chose their designs to be incorporated in the Plaza of Nations.

Below are a few creations from the students.

From public third spaces, parks, and cafes, students brought forward a variety of ideas to reimagine the Plaza of Nations.

Their ideas and creations were then sent to Northchild Developments for their internal evaluation and consideration for the new development plan. These works will also be shared with the public during our Phase 3 event later on this year. To stay updated about Youth STEP, follow our Instagram Account, linked below on our website.

We want to thank Petit Architect for collaborating with us to bring forward this workshop, and the students for their creative ideas.
