ABOUT

YAC Vancouver at Surrey Steps Up

Young Architects for Change is a group of aspiring architects, ranging from high school to university students.

Here at YAC, we are a youth-led initiative that empowers young people to use architecture, design, and creative thinking to address real-world challenges in their communities. Founded on the belief that youth perspectives are essential to shaping better cities, YAC provides a platform where students can explore design as a tool for social impact, problem-solving, and innovation beyond traditional classrooms.

Through workshops, design challenges, exhibitions, and community-based projects, YAC connects youth with architects, designers, and local leaders to turn ideas into action. Participants engage in hands-on learning, collaboration, and critical thinking, developing both technical design skills and a deeper understanding of social responsibility. YAC emphasizes inclusive, human-centered design that responds directly to the needs of people and place.

By fostering creativity, leadership, and civic engagement, Young Architects for Change is building a new generation of designers who are not only skilled, but socially conscious. YAC encourages young voices to be heard and valued, proving that meaningful change can begin with youth-led ideas and thoughtful design.
