Architectural Workshop at Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre

On March 18 and 20, 2026, Young Architects for Change hosted 2 workshops for ages 10-13 at the Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre during Spring Break.
Students were taught basic design theories, how shapes and colour impact a design, and the differences between architecture and landscape architecture. With the main creation of their own skyscraper, students used various materials to build their dream building. From paper, cardboard, plastic, wood, and more, our young designers created not only a magnificent piece of work, but also shared their creativity and craftsmanship.

In our Design Explorers Workshops, students are able to have the opportunity to explore what design and architecture are, create models out of various materials, and critically think about how they can transition from a design to a physical piece of work.

Thank you to the Marpole-Oakridge Community Centre for partnering with us to host these free architectural workshops. We always look forward to these activities as we get to connect with young future designers.
