Community Event at Surrey City Hall

Surrey Steps Up is a civic event hosted by the City of Surrey every year. The goal to raise awareness of student organizations within the region, and a way for youth to connect with one another.

In March of 2025, Young Architects for Change participated in the 2025 Surrey Steps Up. This allowed our team members to share what we do at YAC. With over 40 student led organizations participating, many youth were drawn to the diverse range of initiatives.

During the event, our members attracted many youth and adults where they were really interested in our youth workshops “Design Explorers”, our community project “Project Blueprint”, and also our annual design competition “Design for Change”. This allowed YAC to further connect with the broader community, and to inform them on what we are looking forward to do.

Not only did our YAC members connect with the community, but Surrey Steps Up created a gathering point where many other youth driven organizations were present. With this opportunity, YAC was able to find new collaborations and partnerships, planning out how we can create a more accessible future for youth in our communities.

We are grateful for the work and support from the City of Surrey, and we hope to continue our strong partnership and collaboration. We also look forward to participating in Surrey Steps Up 2026!
